Detailed Graphical Site Stats (Wusage) and Access Logs

To count accesses, there is a directory called wusage in your www directory. To access it, just log on the Internet and, with your Web browser, go to:

      http://www.yourdomain.com/wusage

Statistics are updated daily. (If your account with us is less than a week old, there will not be any statistics visible yet.) From the main page of Wusage, you will see a link at the bottom of the page leading to Weekly Reports. There, you will see a much more detailed report, including pie charts, graphs, etc. These reports are automatically generated for you daily, and are stored in one place so you can compare the week's statistics easily.

If you would like to see domain names in your stats rather than just IP numbers, put an empty text file in your wusage directory called dns (no extensions). This will act as a switch, and reverse authentication will be activated for the domain.

In your /home directory, you will see a file called access-log. You can download this file and open it in any word processor to see exactly what files were accessed, how long the visitor was there, what pages they visited, the order they were visited in, as well as the dates and times of each visit. You can also download this file directly from your Web Control Panel at http://www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/plusmail. After you login to the Web Control Panel, click on Site Reports, then click on Raw Access Logs. NOTE: This file is purged weekly. You can see the previous week's data by accessing your Wusage Site Stats.

Redirecting File Access

You can redirect file(s). For example, if you wanted to redirect all file accesses from prices.htm to newprice.htm, Telnet (use SSH, Protocol Version 2) to your account and at the Unix prompt, type:

      ln -s newprice.htm prices.htm

Checking Server Space Usage

You can find out how much space is occupied by the www files for your domain by using Telnet (SSH, Protocol Version 2) to log into your account and then, at the Unix prompt, type the following:

      du -s /www/htdocs/yourdomain

You will then receive a report back of the amount of space (in kilobytes (k)) occupied by all the files in your www directory.

If you have an anonymous FTP area (on older accounts or dedicated servers), also check:

      du -s ~ftp/yourdomain.com

To check how much space is being used by files in your home directory, type:

      du -s $HOME

Adding up the results from all three of these commands will give you the total amount of space in use, but a simpler way of checking all three directories is to type:

      du * www/* anonftp/* -c

You will then see a space report for each directory and, at the end, a total.

Changing Your Password

To change your password, Telnet (SSH, Protocol Version 2) to your account. After logging in with your username and password, at the Unix prompt, type:

      passwd

You will be prompted for your old password; then the new password. You will be asked to type the new password twice for verification.

NOTE 1: You can not use Telnet to change the passwords for your POP-only accounts. You can change all of your passwords for your POPs (including your shell accounts) by using the Web Control Panel (click on "User Manager" after logging in). In addition, please refer to the instructions built-in to your Web Control Panel as that gives more information on changing passwords. If there are any problems, please contact us.

NOTE 2: If you need to change your Web Control password, login to your Web Control Panel and click on "Webcontrol Pass," then follow the instructions provided.
